Our Story

Manchester City Women is an English football club initially founded by City in the Community in 1988. Relaunched by a formal partnership with Manchester City FC, MCWFC entered the FA Women’s Super League and professionalised in 2014. Success has followed in not only the FAWSL but also the Women’s FA Cup and Continental Tyres League Cup, while the team has regularly competed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. ​

The team plays its home fixtures at Joie Stadium, a 7,000 capacity arena. The stadium sits on the wider Etihad Campus, which also encompasses the City Football Academy, a state-of-the-art training and development facility that houses its women’s, men’s and academy teams. ​

This role is responsible for the development of commercial partnership opportunities for MCWFC with an additional focus on Women’s Football within the global City Football Group properties. This role will be pivotal in the continued revenue growth for the Women’s team and identify key categories and best-in-class partners who help to grow our global Women’s Football brand.

 

This role will also have a key focus in the commercialisation of Tours and Friendlies for the Women’s team, often working with third parties including but not limited to Promoters and Clubs to support our global growth.

Your Impact

 

  1. To own, drive and deliver results for key categories assigned, ensuring consistent achievement of commercial revenue targets set. 
  2. Maintain a constant strong pipeline of prospects, forecasting for continued deal delivery each season and in advance of the following season.
  3. Lead on or assist in closing key partner negotiations, providing commercial, product, and legal/contract information as necessary and as part of due diligence exercises to ensure viability of deals.  
  4. Stakeholder Management. Develop and maintain a relationship of trust and respect with key internal stakeholders, including the Finance and Legal teams, to ensure effective and efficient delivery of partner acquisitions. Develop relationships across all commercial functions within CFG, working to ensure collaboration across teams in the delivery of solutions that benefit all of CFG. Work in collaboration with current/potential commercial partners to deliver an exceptional client experience
  5. Reporting and Data analysis. Work closely with the Business Intelligence team and all other appropriate teams to ensure the right data/insights to make informed investment/marketing/partner decisions. High level of CRM and company process organisational skills delivering consistent and relevant reporting. Abiding by company policy and processes and delivering these to the highest standard.  
  6. To lead on or assist on Women’s Team International Tours and Friendlies commercial negotiations, working in a frictionless manner with the MCWFC Ops and wider Club business functions to deliver a programme that delivers on both sporting and commercial targets.
  7. To manage and develop the Partnerships proposals in line with the club’s international strategy plan and innovate with ad-hoc brand building partnerships.

 

 

What we are looking for

Essential

  • Understanding of a typical sales process from initial research phase to deal closure   
  • Knowledge of how to generate sales leads either in isolation or working with support teams 
  • Understanding of how to initially engage prospects and deliver sales meetings  
  • Knowledge of how to build sales presentations and deliver them confidently to a variety of audiences including internal staff and senior personnel across a variety of different industries 
  • Excellent English language skills (verbal and written) 
  • Proficiency in Powerpoint (or KeyNote), Word, Excel and Outlook  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  
  • Must be a good team player who is open to working closely with sales colleagues and individuals from other departments  
  • Ability to work on several types of project at the same time – new business sales, renewal of existing partnerships, sales strategy, sales pipeline forecasting, lead generation  
  • Candidate must demonstrate a proven track record in successful account management and/or new business generation  
  • Higher education degree or equivalent 

Desirable

  • Understanding of a typical sport sponsorship sales process from initial research phase to deal closure  
  • Knowledge of the competitive Women’s Super League/top European football marketplace in terms of sponsorship sales, existing partnerships and potential future opportunities in relation to specific brands and industries 
  • Understanding of the decision-making factors that contribute to the thought process for marketing teams when assessing different sport sponsorship opportunities 
  • To be competent with Salesforce and other club specific sales management systems (CRM) as well as design / sales presentation tools
