Job Description

Role Title: MCFC Regional Scouting Lead

Reports to: Head of Senior Scouting and Recruitment   

Division: Global Football

Role specific purpose:     

Purpose:  

Please note this role is remote based within Europe, therefore we can be flexible on location.

 

To support the senior talent function in the Talent Management (TM) department, through extensive market surveillance and compilation of comprehensive and insightful player assessment reporting strategies in designated markets. To contribute to the decision-making process through both live and video player observations, support the strategy of the senior talent team and support final decision making.

Role specific accountabilities:

Market Knowledge & Information Sharing

Develop an in-depth understanding of the player market within the designated territories (and other regions as required). Manage information in all formats on all elements of information relevant to the player market. Create and maintain ‘Target’, ‘Monitor’ and ‘Market Depth’ lists for players of potential interest to all CFG teams and clients within the Territory (and other regions as required).

Competition Coverage:

 

Manage the fixture priorities within the territory (and other regions as required) to ensure best possible coverage of all relevant age groups, league tiers and competitions. Manage the coverage of relevant tournaments and international fixtures, as and when required

Position Specific Awareness and Knowledge

 

Comprehensive and in depth knowledge of players in specific positions across a range of relevant markets to support the decision making process. To act as a position expert and pose relevant, considered options when required. Take responsibility for position specific talent assessment and global benchmarking, and to build clearly defined talent profiles of players in global markets. Ensure that decision ready information is available at all times

Relationship Building & Market Control:

 

Create and maintain a network of contacts with league/national federations, clubs, agents, and key personnel within the territory and world-wide. Liaise with agents, representatives, clubs, and families of players of potential interest, supporting the player recruitment process. Promote a positive market identity of CFG and its club’s with agents, representatives, clubs, federations, families, and all key contacts.

Talent Surveillance and Crosscheck Process

 

Identify, recommend, and support the recruitment of Elite 17-21-year-old and senior players for MCFC and to cross-check and benchmark Elite 17-21 year olds and senior talent identified and recommend in other European and Worldwide markets.

Group Wide Target Market Development

 

Support in the identification and recruitment of senior players for all City Football Group teams and clients in the designated territory when required. Maintain and further develop an in-depth understanding of the player market within the territory (and other regions as required) information on player contract content, salaries, club finances and competitor squad analysis by creating & maintaining ‘Target’, ‘Monitor’ and ‘Market Depth’ lists for players of potential interest to all CFG teams and clients within the territory (and other regions as required)

Data Insights & Decision Technology

 

 Explore, utilise and develop advanced technology platforms to aid the player identification process in collaboration with the CFG Football Intelligence & Data Insights teams to implement, review and commit to the continual improvement of our scouting tools, processes and decision making technologies.

Role specific knowledge, skills and experience:  

 

Essential:

  • Prior experience in the scouting, identification & recruitment of football talent in suitable European markets.
  • High level knowledge of football talent across global markets relevant to CFG Clubs and Clients
  • Proven ability to accurately assess players & their ability/potential
  • Excellent understanding and applicable knowledge of player related governance and regulations in relevant markets
  • Prior experience of working in a high performing team and contributing to the continued evolution of that high performance
  • Excellent communication & language skills, able to build and maintain relationships and influence people with all levels of role, personality, culture, and positions.
  • Extremely flexible, efficient, well-organised and able to maintain work standards in varied and mobile working environments.
  • Prepared to travel extensively when required.
  • Develop and deliver practical solutions to problems &act when opportunities arise to ‘add value’ where possible.
  • Applied IT Skills and experience. Microsoft Office competency (PPT / Excel / Word / Email). Video editing skills and associated professional software packages.

 

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a Scouting & Recruitment department within a ‘development’ environment, with a proven track-record of success in the acquisition & development of young players
  • Experience in influencing management regarding recruitment decisions.
  • Experience of working directly with professional athletes.
  • Formal qualification in Talent ID/Development and or Coaching. · Language skills
  • FA Talent ID and/or Coaching qualifications.
  • Prepared to travel extensively when required.
  • Develop and deliver practical solutions to problems & act when opportunities arise to ‘add value’ where possible.
  • Applied IT Skills and experience. Microsoft Office competency (PPT / Excel / Word / Email). Video editing skills and associated professional software packages.
