We want you! This is your opportunity to join Manchester City's highly trained stewards at the Etihad Stadium.

We are looking for individuals with morale courage to sign up to the team!

Recruitment begins with interviews for potential new stewards at the Etihad stadium on Saturday 13th November with an induction and familiarisation session planned for the evening of Thursday 25th November and Tuesday 30th November (subject to change).  

The first match for those successful applicants would be the Wolves fixture on or around 11th December (dates subject to change).

We offer competitive rates of pay, opportunities for advancement and job-related training that can lead to an NVQ qualification.  Additional stewarding work at City Football Academy stadium may also be available once qualified and a season fully completed.

Our aim is to ensure a safe, friendly and welcoming environment to all visitors to the Etihad Stadium, and our goal is to continuously deliver a high standard of Customer Service.

Job Purpose

To support the Safety and Security Manager in the delivery of the relevant provisions of the General Safety Certificate and the security of the club, setting and ensuring the highest standards of security and safety for its employees and customers.

Key Tasks

  • To support in the delivery of the safety and security plan and management of the match day operation held at the Stadium in accordance with the General Safety Certificate and the Club Spectator Safety Policy advising Supervisors and Stand Managers as required.
  • To support in ensuring full compliance with the General Safety Certificate, the Club Spectator Safety Policy and the Green Guide and other applicable regulations as related to football and sports ground safety and security keeping concise documentation where required.*
  • To attend pre-match/event briefings as directed.
  • To undertake pre match inspections as directed reporting any issues as required.
  • To direct, assist and control our customers entering, within and leaving the Stadium to ensure good order and safety at all times.*
  • To assist customers to their destination within the Stadium providing good, clear instructions.
  • To keep key areas clear of customers as directed such as vomitories, stairways, passageways.
  • To prevent the movement of customers onto the pitch or into any areas as directed.
  • To assist in the ejection/detention of customers in line with MCFC club policy/Ground regulations and as directed by your superiors.
  • To continuously monitor and report any issues/incidents through the operational reporting lines.
  • In the event of an emergency to undertake your responsibilities as defined in the MCFC Contingency Plan
  • In the event of a transfer of responsibility to the Police Match Commander, to assist the Police, as directed through the established lines of communication and management.
  • To undertake training as directed by MCFC.
  • To ensure the delivery of safety and security for event and match day operation, is to the highest standard, in line with health and safety compliance and best practice.
  • To deliver operational excellence and input into continuous improvement initiatives.
  • To be responsible for ensuring all Health and Safety requirements for each task you undertake is in line with the H&S legislation, best practice and MCFC H&S policy.
  • To support in the review of any match day and event day operations as and when required. *
  • To support the club in any safety and security investigations regarding incidents and or complaints.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience of stewarding - desirable.
  • Successful track record of safety and security management service delivery.
  • Experience of working in a safety and security environment desirable.
  • Application of health and safety legislation/best practise desirable


  • NVQ2 in Spectator Safety desirable.
  • Knowledge of the Safety of Sports Ground Legislation desirable.
  • Knowledge of safety and security legislation/ best practice desirable.
