Purpose: Established in 1986, City in the Community is the registered charity of Manchester City and exists to empower healthier lives through football. Reaching 20,000 people each season, programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whist also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.
The purpose of the Mentoring Manager is to manage the day-to-day delivery of Mentoring projects across Greater Manchester including City Thrive, Mental Health Mentoring (PCN), Kicks Targeted, City Ready and 93:20 volunteering whilst supporting the charity’s wider strategic aims.

Accountabilities with Key Outcomes: |

1 |
Manage a team of Officers and Delivery Coaches to deliver weekly programming of Mentoring projects including engaging participants across a wide range of ages, and social backgrounds.
|

2 |
Develop and manage mentoring provision to support young people at risk of youth violence and criminal exploitation and those experiencing poor mental health and wellbeing.
|

3 |
Report on set outcomes associated with each programme to develop, maintain and grow a strong working relationship with the partner organisations. Manage quality, engagement and finance KPI’s associated with all programmes to ensure the team fulfill their reporting and other admin obligations as required.

Create, maintain and develop relationships with internal partners from CITC and the wider City Football Group (CFG), external funders, local authorities and governing bodies to develop CITC’s reputation and reach, promoting all CITC programmes across (including Manchester including NHS, CAMHS, GMP, Complex safeguarding, VRU, HRMP and PLCF)

Effectively manage referral processes for young people into and out of mentoring programmes |

Manage the overall Mentoring strategy to meet the needs of the community and funding partners to ensure the long-term sustainability of the programmes. |

Regularly review individual performance within the team, providing structured feedback to assess, identify and provide training and CPD opportunities which continuously improves the standard of delivery and support on the programmes.

Work with the wider operations management team to embed mentoring programmes across all CITC provisions.
|

9 |
Ensuring that CITC’s Safeguarding policy and procedures are embedded to the highest standard across the team. Work to ensure that safeguarding practices and principles are adhered to, ensuring our legal and moral obligations towards the framework. Escalation point for out of hours safeguarding concerns.

Ensuring that all CITC and CFG policies and procedures are adhered to across the team and act as an escalation point for any breaches, investigating as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience: |
|||
Essential In-depth understanding of mentoring programmes Experience of working holistically with vulnerable young people (and parents), ideally within a mentoring context.
Solid experience of working in and liaising with schools, community organisations, local government departments and external funding partners Specific knowledge of youth work programmes and theories Experience of designing relevant programme curriculums GCSEs in English, Maths and Science Experience of managing a team Project management of multiple and ongoing projects Budget management and reporting Competent across Microsoft office Engagement of stakeholders from across the business Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Creative and passionate about continuous improvement Resilient and adaptable to change Excellent and inclusive team-working abilities

Desirable Degree level education Relevant qualifications in Mentoring, Mental Health and Youth work Specific knowledge of Youth offending and probation services Specific knowledge of NHS mental health services Remote line management Presentation skills Experience of delivering technical training for team members and other professionals Understanding of City in the Community Foundation and its projects Knowledge of competitive sport pathways |

Some decision-making authority; the role manages first line managers so is an escalation point for them for all aspects of their business area. Reports into Senior Ops Manager. |
