In this role you will deliver, manage and develop physical performance support to age groups within the Youth Development Phase of the Academy.

 

You’ll assist with delivery of physical performance support across Foundation Phase of the Academy (where required).

Your Impact

  1. The Development Physical Performance Coach will be responsible for the physical development of academy footballers within the Development Phases in accordance with the physical philosophy of the Academy.
  2. Plan, deliver and evaluate physical development sessions for the Development phases designed to enhance the athletic capabilities of the young players.
  3. Assist with the monitoring and assessment of young player’s physical development. This will include the management of data collection, analysis, reporting and providing effective feedback to coaches, parents, and players.
  4. To assist where required with physical performance support across the Development phases as agreed with phase physical performance lead.
  5. Work with an interdisciplinary approach, maintaining strong professional relationships with performance, medical, coaching, and operational staff.
  6. Uphold continual professional development, leading and contributing to age and sport-specific research.
  7. Contribute to the development of scientifically underpinned protocols for all aspects of physical performance support.
  8. Work closely with coaches to ensure the physical development requirements are optimised through the football curriculum.



 

What we are looking for

Essential

  • Delivery of sports science support within elite academy team sports environment (football desirable)
  • Prior responsibility of physical development and coaching experience with youth athletes.
  • Post-graduate qualification in Sports Science / Strength & Conditioning / Equivalent (or evidence of working towards)
  • Industry recognised strength & conditioning certifications (UKSCA, NSCA, or ASCA) (or currently engaged in the certification process)
  • Current FA Safeguarding Certification
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certification

 

Desirable

  • Significant experience of employing underpinning research to monitor/track, evaluate and develop athletic performance.
  • British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) Accredited (or currently engaged in the accreditation process)
