Purpose

Established in 1986, City in the Community is the registered charity of Manchester City and exists to empower healthier lives through football. Our programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.  

The purpose of the Education Officer -Further is to coordinate all aspects of CITC’s College programmes to motivate and inspire staff and participants to be more successful through high-quality coaching delivery, developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships and creating new, innovative ideas. This will result in a high-quality curriculum and game’s structure.
 

Accountabilities

  1. Coordinate a team of Coaches to deliver a high-quality BTEC programme to engage participants across a wide range of ages, social backgrounds, and abilities. This includes all aspects of delivery; practical including face-to-face sessions, monitoring and evaluation and relationship building in the educational settings.
  2. To work closely with key stakeholders within CITC and partner colleges. This will include maintaining and building relationships with existing and potential partners through networking and increasing CITC visibility.
  3. Accountability for progressing and reporting on set outcomes associated with the BTEC programme and individual projects to develop, maintain, and grow a strong working relationship with funding and operational partners.
  4. Creating, maintaining and developing relationships with internal partners from CITC and the wider City Football Group (CFG), local authorities and governing bodies to develop CITC’s reputation and reach, promoting all CITC programmes across Greater Manchester.
  5. Regularly reviewing individual performances within the team, providing high-quality session observations and structured feedback to assess, identify and provide training and CPD opportunities which continuously improves the standard of delivery on the programmes.
  6. Coordinating the current recruitment data to enhance existing strategies to continually improve the BTEC recruitment approach. Encompassing areas of new applicants, retention, and overall engagement.
  7. Contributing to the management of budget spend to ensure programmes are delivered within the projected budget, escalating observations or any concerns where necessary.
  8. Ensuring that CITC’s Safeguarding policy and procedures are embedded to the highest standard across the team. Work to ensure that safeguarding practices and principles are adhered to, ensuring our legal and moral obligations towards the framework.
  9. Ensuring that all CITC and CFG policies and procedures are adhered to across the team, escalating any breaches as appropriate.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • In-depth understanding of Further Education and potential students
  • Track record of supporting participants through education/football programmes
  • Knowledge of Education pathways 
  • Coach mentoring experience/qualifications
  • Solid experience of working in and liaising with colleges, organisations, and external funding partners
  • Line management
  • Experience in managing a team  
  • Minimum Level 2 Coaching Certificate in Football
  • Competent across Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Creative and passionate about continuous improvement  
  • Resilient and adaptable to change
  • Excellent and inclusive team-working abilities
  • Understanding of City in the Community Foundation and its projects  
  • Full/Clean driving licence

 

Desirable

  • Coaching qualification in one other relevant sport
  • Higher Degree level education
  • Experience and knowledge of working within a brand environment and understanding the responsibilities that are associated with representing a Premier League Football Club
  • Experience of delivering educational training for team members and other professionals
  • Degree level education
  • Budget management and reporting
  • Presentation skills
