Purpose:.

Established in 1986, City in the Community Foundation is the registered charity of Manchester City FC and uses the brand of the parent Club to deliver award-winning programmes centred around Health, Education and Inclusion. The projects engage and impact over 20,000 lives in Manchester annually.

The purpose of the Education Officer - Higher is to coordinate all aspects of CITC’s Community Football Coaching degree programme and City Careers employability programme to motivate and inspire participants to be more successful through high-quality delivery, developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships and creating new, innovative ideas. This will primarily focus on developing the City Careers employment programme and Work Based Learning programme across CITC working partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University and other funding partners/stakeholders.

 

Accountabilities with Key Outcomes: .

Coordinate a team of Lead/Delivery Coaches to deliver a high-quality programmes to engage participants across a wide range of ages, social backgrounds, and abilities. This includes all aspects of delivery; practical including face to face sessions and remote/online learning, providing mentoring and pastoral support, monitoring and evaluation and relationship building in the educational settings.

To work closely with key stakeholders within CITC, CFG and MMU to develop and implement the WBL modules into the BSc/FdSn Community Football Coaching. There will also be a focus on employability and other work-based programmes. This will include maintaining and building relationships with existing and potential partners.

Oversee CITC’s employability provision by creating innovative programmes aimed at improving employability skills and outcomes of local young people and make a significant difference in supporting them to progress into employment, education, or training.

Accountability for recruitment of students to ensure successful higher education programmes and work to create new employment pathways for students who are working at different abilities.

Accountability for progressing and reporting on set KPIs and outcomes associated with each project to develop, maintain, and grow a strong working relationship with funding and operational partners.

Creating, maintain and develop relationships with internal partners from CITC and the wider City Football Group (CFG), local authorities and governing bodies to develop CITC’s reputation and reach, promoting all CITC programmes across Greater Manchester.

Regularly reviewing individual performances within the team, providing high quality session observations and structured feedback to assess, identify and provide training and CPD opportunities which continuously improves the standard of delivery on the programmes.

Contributing to management of budget spend to ensure programmes are delivered within the projected budget, escalating observations or any concerns where necessary.

Ensuring that CITC’s Safeguarding policy and procedures are embedded to the highest

standard across the team. Work to ensure that safeguarding practices and principles are

adhered to, ensuring our legal and moral obligations towards the framework.

Ensuring that all CITC and CFG policies and procedures are adhered to across the team, escalating any breaches as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience: 

Essential

In-depth understanding of Higher Education and potential students

Track record of supporting participants through education and into employment

Knowledge of employment and education pathways 

Solid experience of working in and liaising with colleges, organisations, and external funding partners

Minimum Level 2 Coaching Certificate in Football

Excellent understanding of community sports coaching

Competent across Microsoft office

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Creative and passionate about continuous improvement  

Resilient and adaptable to change

Excellent and inclusive team-working abilities

Presentation skills

Understanding of City in the Community Foundation and its projects

Degree level education

 

 

Desirable

Coaching qualification in one other relevant sport

Post graduate qualification in a related area

Experience and knowledge of working within a brand environment and understanding the responsibilities that are associated with representing a Premier League Football Club

Coach mentoring experience/qualifications

Line management

Experience of delivering educational training for team members and other professionals

Budget management and reporting

Experience of managing a team

Budget – contribute to and support the manager who has direct responsibility for monitoring and reporting project budgets

Funding – indirectly influences funding due to maintaining funder relationships, successfully meeting KPIs for further funding and ongoing quality of delivery

Decision-making Authority: (Full / senior / some / limited / little / none)

Limited decision-making authority; the role direct manages delivery coaches so is an escalation point for them in that business area.

Reports into 11+ Education Manager.
