Job Description
Role Title: Head of Injury Management		Reports to: Director of Player Health and Performance
Division: Football Operations		Department: Performance Services

Role specific purpose:
Ensure Man City and Emerging Talent loan players’ transitions, health, injuries, and wellbeing is effectively supported. Where appropriate align support with players’ Individual Development Plans. Drive the delivery of Group performance strategy focused on enabling CFG Clubs to create engaging performance environments with their coaches and practitioners which, effectively manage players’ health, injuries, wellbeing, and long-term development. Assure safe and good injury risk reduction and management practices throughout CFG’s Clubs. Enable clubs to embed universal injury surveillance, player health and performance systems.
Role specific accountabilities:
1	Emerging Talent & Man City Loan Players’ Injury Management: Build influential relationships with players’ loan club performance teams to ensure that: Evidence informed injury risk reduction programmes focused individuals’ long-term development are implemented Clinical care pathways and injuries are effectively managed Ensure all players’ key physical performance and wellbeing markers are consistently monitored, centrally captured, regularly reported and reviewed Drive the multidisciplinary review of players’ physical condition and performance to ensure they remain on track to achieve their individual development goals Deliver pre-season support programmes, testing and movement screening as required at City Football Academy or elsewhere in the UK or overseas Provide remote and onsite Physiotherapy support to loan players as required Help drive lifestyle support to ensure players maintain effective performance habits
2	CFG Best Practice: Drive the universal CFG injury surveillance system and ensure Clubs contemporaneously enter reliable data Chair weekly CFG injury review meetings and drive collaboration between Physiotherapists across the Group Drive a universal CFG movement screening system and ensure Clubs consistently use results to improve individual players’ injury risk reduction plans / training Support CFG Clubs to build clearly defined, efficient and effective clinical care pathways Enable CFG Clubs to efficiently deliver safe and effective prehab, recovery, and treatment practices. Support the continuous improvement of CFG Clubs’ performance systems to: Assure they remain compliant with territory specific standards of medical governance and contemporaneous record keeping Assure they remain WADA and NADA compliant Sustain an evidence-informed multidisciplinary team approach to player development and performance Provide safe training environments on the pitch and in gyms Drive lifestyle support to ensure players maintain effective performance habits Work in collaboration with the Group Sports Physician, Heads of Physical Performance, Performance Analysis and Strategic Initiatives in the design and delivery of professional development programmes for Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Athletic Trainers and Massage Therapists across CFG
3	What It Takes to Perform (WITTP): Provide expert medical input to support the development of evidence informed WITTP models and talent profiles with CFG Clubs Support CFG Clubs to use their WITTP models to underpin match preparation and review, long-term player development planning, training and support
4	Research & Innovation (R&I): Support the Head of Strategic Initiatives to: Deliver R&I projects that positively influence CFG Clubs’ daily training and coaching Efficiently horizon scan and signpost CFG Clubs’ coaches and practitioners toward high-efficacy innovations and new methods
Role specific knowledge, skills and experience:
Essential: Knowledge BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy (HCPC SRP) or directly related field Postgraduate qualifications in Sports & Exercise Medicine Extensive knowledge of injury management in high performance sport Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels Enthusiasm and willingness to be flexible Pro-active and engaging style Strong 'can do' approach Remain calm under pressure Willing to self-evaluate and work towards continuous improvement Process driven with careful attention to detail Experience Extensive experience of applied practice in elite sport Experience of leading and managing practitioners		Desirable: Knowledge PhD in related field Knowledge of movement screening in elite sporting populations Skills Fluent in one or more of the following languages: Spanish Portuguese French Italian Experience Extensive experience of applied practice in professional football Experience of successfully completing performance reviews
