MCFC Education Tutor

Based at the City Football Academy in Manchester, this fixed-term, part-time role supports the planning, teaching and administration of education programmes for players across the Professional Development Phase and beyond. Working predominantly four afternoons and one morning each week, you will help players stay on track with their learning through high-quality teaching, tailored support and close collaboration with schools and internal stakeholders.

Within our Academy Education Team, we support players as they balance football with study, creating a learning environment that is well-planned, carefully tracked and firmly connected to each player’s development. We work closely with academy colleagues, schools, colleges and families to make sure every learner has the support they need to progress.

The Role

You will take ownership of education delivery for players in the Professional Development Phase, helping them achieve their target grades while keeping their wider football commitments in view. The role combines teaching, assessment and planning, with a strong focus on making learning relevant, motivating and properly supported.

A key part of the job is delivering BTEC Sport and other appropriate qualifications, then keeping progress under review through accurate tracking, reporting and day-to-day administration.

You will help identify where extra support is needed and work with others to put practical plans in place that keep players moving forward.

This is a collaborative role with regular contact across the academy, schools, colleges and other stakeholders involved in each player’s development. You will need a flexible approach to working around training schedules and academy commitments, while contributing positively to the Academy values of Graft, Pride, Ambition and Respect.

What You'll Bring

⚽Experience teaching or tutoring young people in an education, academy, sport or post-16 setting.

⚽A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS or QTLS, or equivalent relevant professional qualification.

⚽Knowledge of BTEC Sport and/or other relevant education programmes, with the ability to plan, deliver and assess learning effectively.

⚽Organisational skills and confidence managing reports, records, deadlines and day-to-day administration accurately.

⚽Clear communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with players, schools, families and colleagues.

⚽Confidence using Microsoft Office and digital tools, with a flexible approach to working around training schedules and academy commitments.
