We’re looking for an experienced leader to drive our Performance Nutrition strategy across all phases of the Academy, ensuring player health and performance are optimised at every stage of development. Working closely with 1st team Performance Services, you’ll create seamless strategies to support the transition into elite senior football, while upholding the highest standards of governance and safety in line with Premier League Category 1 Academy requirements. This role combines strategic vision with hands-on leadership, managing and developing a dedicated team of full- and part-time Performance Nutrition staff.

Your Impact

 

  1. Lead & manage Academy Performance Nutrition team to deliver age & stage-specific Performance Nutrition support across the Academy ensuring the objective measurement, benchmarking and tracking of the effectiveness of nutritional interventions across the pathway.
  2. Lead to the planning, delivery, and review of periodised performance nutrition support to PDP squads, working collaboratively with Chefs, catering staff, and the wider performance MDT.
  3. Working collaboratively as part of an integrated MDT, develop and implement player profiling & objective/subjective measurement to provide individualised nutrition support to maximise player health and performance
  4. Ensure that Performance Nutrition support plays a key role in supporting the individual needs of players undergoing rehabilitation & return to play from injury & illness. 
  5. Lead the development & manage implementation of an age & developmental stage relevant Academy Nutrition Curriculum that enables players, parents, and staff to understand and make good decisions around healthy eating, fuelling for performance, and nutritional supplementation.
  6. Work with the Academy Director of Performance to develop and implement performance objectives, practitioner development plans, and ongoing learning opportunities that support the growth and development of a world class Performance Nutrition workforce aligned to the delivery of the Academy Performance strategy.
  7. Play a key role in the Academy Performance Management Team and Wider Academy Management Team to shape the practices, behaviours, standards and uphold a high performance culture. 

 

What we are looking for

  • Experience delivering high quality nutrition & supplementation programmes/advice to young athletes 
  • Experience of utilising principles of nutrition to optimise body composition and support adaptation & recovery in athletes
  • Extensive knowledge in the areas of nutrition support to young athletes
  • Undergraduate degree &/or postgraduate degree in relevant subject
  • SENr accreditation
  • Ability to use both data & expertise to generate actionable insights to inform decision making.
  • Significant experience working as part of an MDT providing applied Performance Nutrition support in elite sport
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, to effectively deliver strategy and impact performance.
