Our Playmakers are the core match day team who help the MCFC Events Department to deliver match day entertainment across the Etihad Campus. They are the first people that our fans engage with as they arrive at matches across the Etihad Stadium, Academy Stadium and MCFC Kids Fan Zone. They are also the public face of the club and are critical in our drive to deliver excellence across our fan experience.

The main objectives of a Playmaker role include:

 

 Welcoming fans to the stadium and being the public face of Manchester City on a match day.

• Improving and enhancing engagements with supporters.

• Providing a welcoming, helpful, and enthusiastic approach to all supporter engagements.

• Garnering supporter feedback and ensuring this is relayed to the club.

• Creating the best possible experiences for fans and visitors across the campus. 

• Tracking interactions and measuring engagements with the tools provided.

• Helping build and de-rig particular fan activations.


This role offers hands-on customer service experience in a fast-paced environment. It also offers training, supportive (on-the-job) mentoring and a company culture that provides flexibility while experiencing what the sports industry has to offer.

You will be surrounded by a large and friendly team of experienced playmakers who will guide and assist you throughout your shift, while you experience a host of match day and non-match day events that Manchester City Football Club delivers.

 

Your Impact

1.To support in the delivery of the match day entertainment and fan engagement held at the Etihad Stadium and Academy Stadium. 

2.First class supporter services located in several key touch points across the Etihad campus.

3.Follow assigned briefs, tasks, and instructions to engage with fans.

4.Assist on a safe set-up, delivery and de-rig for match day activations and club events.

5.Safely deliver activations and count interactions with supporters, providing personal and fan feedback at the end of each shift for the post-match report.

6.Assist supporters with directions around the stadium providing friendly, clear instructions.

7.To ensure your roles on match days and during events are delivered to the highest standard

8.Show dedication and commitment to work as many fixtures as possible throughout the 22/23 season.

 


 

What we are looking for

Essential

 

  • Customer Service: Demonstrate strong customer service skills with the ability to engage fully with fans and attend to multiple needs.
  • Initiative: Ability to assess a situation and think and act quickly without the assistance of senior members of the team.
  • Proactive: Ability to anticipate future problems, needs, or changes rather than just responding after it has occurred. 
  • Punctuality: Consistently arrive for shifts on time and ready to engage with fans.
  • Flexibility: Ability to quickly adapt to a changing schedule and to be willing to take on work/instructions should last minute changes occur.
  • Teamwork: A team player wanting to contribute and add value with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-Motivation: Self-motivated, quick and willing learner, with strong motivation for self-development and uses feedback / training opportunities to improve performance.  
  • Involvement: Happy to get stuck in assisting the team to pack up and de-rig items at the end of a shift.

 

 

Desirable

  • Keen interest in the sports industry, preferably with a particular passion for football.
  • Key knowledge of Manchester City Football Club including the players, leadership team and the history of the club.
  • Organisation: Well organised individual with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks at once and strong time management skills.
