The purpose of this role is to organise, plan and deliver world-leading rehabilitative support to City Football Group players. Based in Manchester, you will be a key member of the ‘CFG Rehabilitation and Performance Unit’ multi-disciplinary team. You will be responsible to deliver detailed rehabilitative support, through all phases, from acute management to comprehensive return to high performance for players that will be attending for residential rehabilitation. These cases require high problem-solving capabilities, utilising the skill set of all MDT members and available resources.

Your Impact

1. To deliver world class physiotherapy and rehabilitation services to individual players requiring dedicated rehabilitation in Manchester working closely with the rehabilitation strength and conditioning coach

2. Work closely with other medical and broader MDT staff within Global Football and MCFC to ensure the best possible rehabilitation programmes are devised and delivered effectively

3. To deliver physiotherapy services and development support to specific player groups during periods of group training at the CFA base

4. Provide proactive support at the CFA base for players on loan liaising with their loan club support team regarding the player’s status, management, rehabilitation and development programmes.

5. To engage fully within the Global Football MDT to ensure continuity of care and holistic approaches to player development are maintained
6. To develop, conduct and support specific screening and information capture at relevant points of the season to ensure detailed injury history and current status profiles are built
7. To maintain detailed records for the company of all medical actions in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures

8. Build positive relationships and good lines of communication to ensure information sharing with appropriate staff at Manchester City FC and loan clubs

9. To assist in the development of evidence-led processes and pathways for all areas of Physiotherapy within CFG using all available resources including the latest research and in collaboration with clinical specialists

 

What we are looking for

Essential

  • Extensive knowledge of lower limb injuries related to football
  • Extensive knowledge of medical screening/injury profiling in the elite sporting population.
  • Extensive understanding of strength and conditioning and biomechanical principles
  • An ability to communicate in a professional manner to all key stakeholders.
  • High level of assessment capability that can identify appropriate impairments and develop a sequential and effective rehabilitation plan
  •  Strong coaching ability in the gym environment to connect with players & engage them in their rehabilitation

 

Desirable

  • Foreign language skills or fluency (Spanish/Portuguese/French)
  • Demonstrable ability to scientifically evaluate test results including musculoskeletal imaging, force profiling, scientific data and relevant sports medicine/science literature
  • Experience of working within an MDT and leading a team in MDT discussions
  • Experience of working collaboratively with practitioners and players from other countries and cultures
  • Experience of using data management systems to ensure the secure and efficient storage of monitoring and evaluation data.
  • Experience working with senior / 1st Team athletes within football and/or within another high-performance

Qualifications

  • An under-graduate or post-graduate qualification in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered or commenced HCPC registration process
